The Weight of Glory

Welcome to keys2unlock, this will serve as my first blog of the new year 2022. I dare not make any excuses as to why this is the first one for 2022. This message is a quick eye opener and as I finished it for the blog it should be a longer deeper message so I hope and pray that this speaks to you and that you are blessed by it. I will continue to look at this in more detail.

Let us jump into 2 Corinthians 4:17 “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory” I know many of you have read this many times and have even heard it preached about of several occasions. Paul considered and even described what he had gone through (the many difficulties he faced) as momentary burdens or light afflictions when compared to the experience of glory of God. When we think of weight, in most cases we think of how big an object is. Which is true in part. According to (https://www.britannica.com/science/weight) weight is the product of an object’s mass and either the gravitational field or the acceleration of gravity at the point where the object is located. I know that said a lot but stay with me. Afflictions and persecutions are designed to be like a paperweight to us in the spirit. Something that is heavier than the paper like a rock let’s say is placed on the paper to prevent that paper from being blown away. The rock represents the weight of the afflictions, persecutions, hurt, pain, strain and whatever else we face in our lives that tends to hold us or weigh us down. It can be as simple as our thoughts which can cause us to not move as we may have been called to do or even desired to. Transparency moment: Many times, while in church or on my job or any other place I have had the thought to move to a person and minister to them but because I begin to “think” I don’t move. That simple thought became a Kevin weight and prevented me from moving as I had been directed. I will describe the weight to you so that you may not find yourself under the same weight. It looks like this: (Thought: What if they don’t receive what I am saying? Well, I don’t want to come off harsh or embarrass them. Who am I to tell them that? I’m don’t have the credentials to speak like that. I don’t say the right things what if I am misunderstood?) this is just an example of thoughts. In these moments we have made our light afflictions way heavier than they really are. But this is how it begins and then our life experiences add to the many other things and the weight gets heavier and heavier. Pretty soon that piece of paper is lost under the weight of our light afflictions. In many ways we are trading the eternal weight of glory for our light afflictions which are for a moment. Now I don’t know why this part comes to mind but I’m going to type it because it may speak to someone. But this trade is like trading a marriage of pleasure for a night of pleasure. Now why do we make this trade? Well because we are looking at what we can see and not what we can’t see. 2 Corinthians 4:18 reads “while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. Trading the temporary for the eternal. Now I’m talking about the way we look at the light afflictions, these afflictions if looked at improperly will weigh us down but when viewed spiritually they set us toward the eternal glory. I mean there are tests and trials, I could have taken some of the afflictions and things I have gone through and been a stop sign. Stuck in one place and telling others to do the same. But God!!! I didn’t uproot myself God did it! He showed me and often times reminds me the weight of His glory. He shows me that He is all around me, that He is there during that struggle. When I got caught in a moment, He says hey get up and move He moves that (Insert your name here) weight and picks me up and places my feet on solid ground to walk/run to my destiny my purpose. I thank Him and praise thy glorious name. I pray that you got the point behind this quick blog message. It is my prayer that you have a great day today and everyday filled with God’s love, joy, peace, favor, anointing and Holy Spirit. I love you family and friends and thank you for reading and I want to also take a quick moment to thank my wife for her encouragement and push to follow God’s leading.
