Where Are You Heading? Obey the Signs!

A few years, well about 16 years ago I was driving down the highway headed the wrong way. Ok, I was on the right side of the road just headed to the wrong place or destination. There I was minding my own business music blasting just in my own world so to speak. Out of the corner of my eye I notice a car pull up beside me matching my speed. I really didn’t pay it any attention but soon felt as though someone was looking at me. So I glance over and guess who it was the highway patrolman looking at me as if to say “dude if you don’t slow down”. I then looked to see my speed and lets just say I was over the speed limit. I politely nod to the officer and remove my foot from the gas pedal and my car slows down and the officer went on his way. It wasn’t until the day that I realized that I thought the officer was trying to get me to slow down. The Lord was trying to get me to turn around and not continue on that path. See I knew where I was going physically but not spiritually, God was trying to get my attention and divert me. I was heading in the direction to become who I said I would not become. (Long story behind that I told myself who I wouldn’t be based off of the things I seen growning up) So instead of taking the road less traveled I was taking the super highway in the direction away from my call, away from who God intended for me to be. Almost as if I was dragging the spiritual part of me against it’s will. While fighting to go the other way the spiritual part was being kidnapped by the physical (flesh). When the officer pulled up and looked at me my response was not what was required, instead I misinterpreted the sign. Dont allow yourself to get to that point where you don’t even recognize the sign along the road. When you see the stop sign you don’t ignore it as if it wasn’t there. You obey the sign! Once you disobey the sign you are risking your life going any further! Some of us have seen the sign, read it, understood it and ignored it. Some don’t understand the sign so they misinterpret the sign and do the wrong thing.

Let me tell you the Lord desires for you to go in the right direction, to trust Him in all that you do, not to lean on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths. He won’t leave you headed on the wrong course. I’m so glad that God didn’t leave me nor forsake me. Especially after I ignored or disobeyed the sign. Friends and family I urge you to trust in the Lord, pay attention to the signs throughout your journey and heed unto the Lord’s direction. Your response to the signs are vital in your way down the road. Traffic lights arein place not just to control the flow of traffic. They are also there to protect you! If you don’t abide by the traffic lights, traffic signs or other signs you can potentionally put yourself in harms way. This may seem off topic but it really isn’t! Have you ever been driving down the highway and your car began to drift because you became complacent or lacked awareness in that moment and you hit what I call the rumble strip? It is my belief that they are in place to wake you up so that you can pay attention. Some of us need to hit that rumble strip and WAKE UP! Now that you are awake get back on course!
