I Don’t Want My Gift To Be Stuck On the Bottom

Good day and thank you for taking the time to read. I wanted to share what God unlocked in me over this weekend I pray it encourages your heart!

A few years ago, I took part in a men’s prayer group. In the midst of a prayer one morning I saw the earth and the Lord was standing behind it and He placed His hands inside of the earth and begin to stir it like a pot. I didn’t get the meaning at the time and I don’t know if I was meant to at the time. Fast forward to recently, my wife and I are a part of a Bible Study group and one evening during the Bible Study we as a group came together and had a prayer of deliverance during that prayer I was jotting down a few things that I felt needed to be prayed about just incase I was called upon to pray. One of the things I wrote down was for the Lord to stir us up. In that moment, I knew it was a familiar thing to pray for because those words are said a lot in prayer at least in my experience. So, as I wrote it down, in my mind I related it to stirring a pot so that the contents of the pot don’t burn or in other words stick to the bottom of the pot. We all know that the longer it sits on the bottom the harder it is to free it from the bottom. So, the idea is to keep the liquid in the pot moving so it doesn’t stick to the bottom. Much like us we must continuously move and operate in what God has for us or we get stuck to the bottom! We all know what happens to the part of the soup that is stuck at the bottom of the pot. By the way, 2 Timothy 1:6 NKJV reads “Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.”

As I was studying this thought I came across other versions or translations that confused me for a second but I grasped it. If you read the same scripture in other translations it talks about fan into flames the gift of God, it’s the same meaning metaphorically speaking. To keep a fire going you add fuel to it like more wood. Just like fanning the embers to rekindle the fire, you must keep the fire(gifts) burning to serve its purpose. A fire that has burned out doesn’t serve its purpose, you can’t cook on it and it won’t keep you warm.

In this season, we must continue to do what we were doing before, if you are wandering still after the last blog let this be the nudge that say get moving. There is a fresh wind blowing to rekindle the fire that burns on the inside of you to reignite the embers of your purpose. In my thoughts/vision God didn’t have a spoon He used His hands to stir up the world. He is stirring you up so that you and your purpose don’t get STUCK at the bottom. What is your purpose? Find your purpose. Ask God! Take time to seek God and find out! I pray you are encouraged; I pray you are stirred up! Thank you for stopping by keys2unlock. I pray you are filled with God’s love, joy, peace, favor, anointing and Holy Spirit. Have a great day!

  1. Great analogy Kevin. The Good things about the stirring of The Lord is no matter how long I have been sitting on the bottom, He will not allow me to get stuck at the bottom, I can allow myself to get stuck. However, when I do move, He will continue to use use me for His Glory, as I have noticed He uses me no matter where I am in the pot. Unlike us, when something gets stuck at the bottom, we tend to throw it away and say it’s no good. I am thankful our Father doesn’t throw is away.

  2. Wonderful post Kev! You painted a vivid visual picture of God’s desires for us. In reflecting back on my own stuck moments, I am reminded & encouraged that they ALWAYS emanate from not using my GIFTS on/in/with PURPOSE! Even today I am rechallenged by this post to do it!
